It is not unusual for there to be a wedding guest book at a wedding reception. The guest book is a way for the bride and grooms to have a record of who attended their wedding. In most cases, the book will be placed near the entrance of the church or reception hall. Although at some receptions the book will be passed from table to table. Passing the book from table to table gives the guest a chance to sit down and gather their thoughts prior to signing the book.
When guest sign the book they will typically be asked to leave their name and address. If they choose to it is usually alright for them to leave a message or to wish the bride and groom good luck. The newlyweds may use the contents of the book to send their guest thank you notes, or perhaps they will just keep it as a keepsake to remind them of their wedding day.
In the past, a wedding guest book was a traditional hardback book and pen. However in recent years brides and grooms have been getting more creative. For instance books can now be personalized and come in a wide variety of colors and styles. Some couples put photos of themselves in the books. One couple used a dictionary and had their guest to select the word that best described their relationship. Some couples set out a large photo mats for guests to sign and leave best wishes on.
Having a photo mat leads to an interesting idea. That is a photo puzzle. A photo can be taken of the mat, and be transformed into a photo puzzle. A photo puzzle could be made of just a mat or combined with other wedding photos in a collage. Visitors can write wedding wishes to new couple on each puzzle piece. Also a collage can be a great way to memorialize the wedding event.
